Getting involved in politics is quite possibly the most sketchy thing ever.
Yes, it's flawed. Yes, it's corrupt. Yes, it's incredibly arduous.
But, just take a minute and ask yourself...why are you not voting?
Because politicians are shady?
Because politicians are acting like children?
Because you're unsure?
A wise man once said, "Be the change you want to see..." That was Mahatma Gandhi.
If Gandhi had just said "Oh well! Things will never change and I can't make a difference!" his efforts and thoughts would never have been expressed to us. It honestly disheartens me to think that people are so lax about one of the BIGGEST elections of our time. Our youth has the power to make a difference and we're just sitting around because we're unsure.
Are you unsure about your jobs? Or what could happen to your future? The economy is in a RECESSION...we are about to enter another DEPRESSION. That's not just a myth. It's a fact. Suze Orman was on a morning show the other day and she was talking about just how bad it is.
I never really followed much on the economy...until this summer when I lost my job. And then when it took me three months to find ANOTHER job and the job I took only pays me $7.25 an hour. I am living paycheck to paycheck just to pay my bills. Rarely, I can spend money to go out and enjoy a nice meal with my friends...if I want to eat sushi, I feel guilty after because I think "That's equals [such amount] of work..."
I understand, you're frustrated... you think politics are skewed. Of course politics are skewed...thats the way ITS ALWAYS been...but, honestly? Sitting back and watching your rights pass you by...is just as skewed as the politicians out there.
I am not going to tell you who to vote for. All I am going to say is please...
actually, i'm going to beg...and that's something I don't do often... don't let this election pass you by. You're going to sit there and have to watch another four years go by before you get another chance. Think about it. In four years, your APR, loans, cost of living could triple... things could be 50 times worse than they are right now.
So, if you're someone who is always talking about how you don't have enough money for this...don't have enough money for that... I can't get a job... gas is so expensive... food costs are rising...I can't afford to leave the house.
Do something about it. Use your rights.
Be the change.
